Microsoft Cloud & Security

Know where your Azure and Entra ID environment stands, and what to fix first.

A focused, independent review of how your Microsoft cloud is configured, who can access what, and whether you would notice if something went wrong. You get evidence-backed findings and a remediation plan in priority order.

Cloud environments drift

Admin rights granted for a project never get removed. Old accounts, guest users, and app registrations pile up. Secrets end up in configuration files.

Defender recommendations wait in a queue nobody triages, and logging is set up but nobody has checked whether it would catch a real incident.

Who this is for

  • Organizations running workloads on Azure without a dedicated cloud security team
  • Businesses that rely on Microsoft Entra ID for sign-in and access
  • IT teams that want an independent second look before an audit or a big change
  • Teams that switched on Defender or Sentinel and aren't sure the setup is working

What the engagement includes

Scoped to what you need. These are the building blocks.

Azure configuration review

Network exposure, storage and database settings, resource locks, diagnostic logging, and policy assignments across the subscriptions in scope.

Entra ID identity and access review

Privileged roles, Conditional Access, MFA coverage, guest access, stale accounts, and app registrations with broad permissions.

Least-privilege assessment

Azure RBAC assignments, standing admin access, and workload identities that can reach more than their job requires.

Defender for Cloud posture review

Secure score drivers, open recommendations, attack paths, and which findings actually matter for your environment.

Sentinel and Defender monitoring assessment

Data connectors, analytics rules, and incident flow: what gets detected, what doesn't, and who would see it.

Secrets and configuration review

Key Vault access models, secret sprawl, rotation, and credentials stored where they shouldn't be.

Deliverables

What you walk away with

  • A findings report with severity, evidence, and the affected resources for each item
  • A prioritized remediation plan that separates quick wins from structural fixes
  • A short executive summary for non-technical stakeholders
  • A walkthrough session to go over findings and answer questions
  • Optional: remediation support, implemented as infrastructure-as-code where it fits

Process

How it runs

  1. 01

    Scope

Agree in writing on the tenants, subscriptions, and areas in scope. Access is read-only by default.

  2. 02

    Collect

Gather configuration, role assignments, policy state, and Defender and Sentinel data using Microsoft's own tooling and APIs.

  3. 03

    Analyze

Trace real exposure: who can reach what, which paths lead to sensitive resources, which alerts would fire.

  4. 04

    Report

Deliver findings ranked by risk and effort, with specific remediation steps rather than generic advice.

  5. 05

    Re-check

After fixes, re-review the changed areas to confirm each finding is actually closed.

Technologies

  • Microsoft Entra ID
  • Azure RBAC
  • Privileged Identity Management
  • Conditional Access
  • Microsoft Defender for Cloud
  • Microsoft Sentinel
  • Azure Key Vault
  • Terraform

Coverage depends on what your licenses include. Some Entra and Defender features require specific plans, and we confirm what applies during scoping.

This is an independent technical review. It is not a certified audit, a compliance attestation, or an ongoing managed security service.

Practiced on our own environment first

  • ClarityOS runs on Azure with private networking for its database and Key Vault
  • Each workload identity can read only the secrets it needs, not the whole vault
  • Defender CSPM and Sentinel alerting are enabled and managed in Terraform

This is work on ClarityOS, our own product, not a client engagement. About ClarityOS
